The Luxembourg Ministry of Economy and the Henan Imported Materials Public Bonded Center (HIMPBC) have signed an MoU to implement a pilot project for cross- border e-commerce trade in Europe.
The signing coincided with a visit to Luxembourg by the Secretary General of the Communist Party (of China) of Henan Province, Wang Guosheng.
The Ministry said the aim of the pilot is to set up a sustainable solution for the European market, taking into account developments in the European legislative framework for cross-border e-commerce.
HIMPBC manages a logistics center in Zhengzhou providing e-commerce customers with integrated logistics solutions including warehousing, Customs clearance and parcel delivery via China Customs.
The Chinese group wants to set up a similar model in Luxembourg for Europe in collaboration with logistics companies including Cargolux, which now operates daily 747 freighter flights between Zhengzhou, Henan Province and the Grand Duchy.
“This project is part of the development of cross-border e-commerce which represents a challenge as well as a great opportunity for international trade,” commented Étienne Schneider, Luxembourg Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy.
“Such logistic solutions specifically dedicated to cross-border e-commerce are in line with the Grand Duchy’s strategy for the development of high value-added logistics services responding to international trade developments,” he added.
