With a mean download speed of 118.05 bps, Luxembourg has the 5th fastest internet in the world. This is the conclusion of Cable.co.uk, a UK website that helps consumers compare broadband and phone packages from different providers.
The data used in the study was gathered by M-Lab, an open source project with contributors from civil society organisations, educational institutions, and private sector companies. To compile the report, researchers conducted speed tests in 221 countries and territories.
8 of the top 10 top spots in the world for internet speed are in Western Europe, with the first 5 places being held by Liechtenstein, Jersey, Andorra, Gibraltar and Luxembourg. Luxembourg’s neighbouring countries are to be found in place 24 (Belgium), 36 (France) and 42 (Germany).
